6 Tips for the Perfect Girls-Only Turks & Caicos Vacations

Don’t limit your girls-only Turks & Caicos vacations to poolside fun. Enjoy the turquoise blue seas with snorkeling, a fish fry, and more!

One of the best locations for a girls’ getaway is Turks & Caicos. Hailed as “the perfect Caribbean island” by Forbes, you will be hard-pressed to find more sun, white sand beaches, vibrant blue-green waters, and smiling faces anywhere else in the world.

While sipping your homemade Bambarra on the rocks by one of the many beach bars, think about doing something you can only experience on Turks & Caicos. For your more adventurous gal pals, try wall diving, kite sailing, or discover some live music and dance the night away on the beach.

If you’re looking for something a little more tame, many groups hold beach BBQs and bonfires from one of the local catering companies. Or, you could head to Hemingway’s on Grace Bay Beach for some local music playing several nights per week.

Turks & Caicos vacations are ideal for unwinding, relaxing, and naturally, having a little fun as well. And, with direct flights from many East Coast cities in the U.S., you can catch your flight and be on the beach by lunch.

Side note: And if you fall in love with one of the cute-as-heck potcake pups that run the island, they’re up for adoption!

Turks & Caicos vacations: Planning an unforgettable girls’ getaway

1. Some of the best scenery is underwater

Snorkeling and diving are top activities at any Caribbean island, but when it comes to Turks & Caicos vacations, Providenciales (Provo), the main island, has been labeled as one of the best sites in the world due to great visibility, gentle seas, an amazing barrier reef, and outstanding coral and marine life. It can also get very, very busy, so book ahead.

A fun way to incorporate this into a girls’ trip is to book a full or half day private boat tour around the islands with snorkeling stops along the way. Or, if you’ve been around the coral reef block before, head directly to Grace Bay to snorkel in Coral Gardens, Smith’s Reef, and Bight’s Reef, in that order.

2. Soak up the sun at Grace Bay Beach

Turks & Caicos is famous for its white sand beaches, but one beach — Grace Bay Beach — gets most of the credit. The 12-mile beach has been named as the “World’s Best Beach” more than once.

You can do all the usual scuba diving and water skiing like any caribbean island, of course. But on Turks & Caicos you can also dive the walls of West Caicos (watch out for sharks and eagle rays!), kayak through the mangrove forest in Leeward Channel, or rent some equipment and go kite sailing. Bring your GoPro, because the selfies will be incredible.

During the winter months, you can even witness humpback whales as they migrate south. And look out for Jo-Jo, the resident dolphin at Grace Bay!

Or, kick back in your bikini, set up some chairs and umbrellas in the sand. If you want quiet and privacy, stay away from the reefs where it can get very busy. The east side, after you pass the Ocean Club, is a more quiet area. But if you’re bringing a bunch of friends, a villa with a private beach makes the most sense.

3. Take in some culture at the weekly Island Fish Fry

Every Thursday night, there is a fish fry on Grace Bay Beach from 5:30 – 9:30 and it has some of the best food, music, and fun you’ll find anywhere in Turks & Caicos.

You and your girlfriends have never experienced a party like this — and even if you’re not big “party people,” there’s no way you won’t enjoy eating authentic Caribbean cuisine under the stars while listening to live music on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

4. Enjoy a sunset cruise and toast your girls’ tripturks & caicos vacations

A nice way to spend your last night in Turks & Caicos is to take a sunset cruise with your friends. When it’s a full moon, you can even see glow worms light up the water in Grace Bay!

Try Sail Provo (they also have several types of different excursions) which offers complimentary rum punch, soft drinks, water, and snacks on each trip. Sunset sails are generally from about 5pm until 7pm and give you a chance to unwind, take in the natural beauty of Turks & Caicos, and have some special time to connect with your girlfriends at the end of an unforgettable trip.

5. Throw a beach bonfire
The bonfires on Turks & Caicos are legendary, and you can throw one yourself. Local caterers like The Kissing Fish are experts in bonfires and will arrange music and a BBQ. If you stay at Gansevoort, they will arrange one for you, also.

6. Book a private villa

If you’ve never stayed in a private villa before, a girls-only Turks & Caicos vacation is the perfect time to see what all the fuss is about.

Rather than being spread out in a hotel, a villa allows you and all your friends to stay under one roof in total privacy (it can also be more cost-effective than paying for individual hotel rooms). You can hang out together in a plush living room, have early morning talks over coffee in the open-air dining area, or jump in the pool together fully-clothed at 2am (because hey, why not?).

Some villas are even steps from the white sand beaches, which means you can roll out of bed in the morning and within minutes, be relaxing in total paradise.

Other advantages to staying in a private villa? When you book through WIMCO, we handle everything for you. We can make sure that your fridge is fully stocked with first-night provisions as soon as you arrive. If you want an elevated spa experience, we can book spa treatments directly in your villa. We can even schedule daily yoga classes for your group around the pool every morning.

White sand beaches are just a short flight away. The Turks & Caicos Islands boast over 200 miles of soft white sand beaches and the third largest coral reef system in the world. The best part? They’re just four hours from New York City by air. Book your trip now.
