The picturesque island of Anguilla lies in the northeastern part of the Caribbean. It is bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and the Anguilla Channel, and on the other side the Caribbean Sea. 

This small island is approximately 16 miles long and 3 miles wide, with a total land area of 35 square miles. The highest point is Crocus Hill, at 210 feet,. located near Anguilla’s capital, The Valley.

The British territory of Anguilla lies approximately 5 miles north of Saint Martin , 20 miles from Saint Barthelemy (St. Barts) and about 60 miles northwest of the island of Saint Kitts. 

Within the Lesser Antilles, Anguilla lies to the north of the Leeward Islands. Several uninhabited offshore islands are nearby, including Sombrero, Dog, and the Prickly Pear Cays. 

Other large islands in the vicinity of Anguilla include the British Virgin Islands (95 miles), U.S. Virgin Islands (98 miles), Antigua (114 miles), Saint Kitts and Nevis ( 75 miles), and Montserrat (116 miles). The furthermost island away from Anguilla is Puerto Rico (165 miles).

How To Get To Anguilla


From the U.S., there are direct flights from Miami and San Juan. From St. Martin, you can hop on a flight and get to Anguilla in 10 minutes or take a 35-minute ferry ride to Anguilla.

From Miami, American Airlines is the only carrier that flies directly to Anguilla. From Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz International Airport, direct flights to Anguilla are offered by Tradewind Aviation, Seaborne Airlines, or private charter .
