Events, Holidays and Festivals on Turks and Caicos

Consisting of live music and fireworks, the Grace Bay area is alive with music and dancing. After ringing in the new year, The Junkanoo festival begins. During the Junkanoo Jump Up islanders take to the streets in bejeweled costumes, playing instruments and dancing until sunrise. The event has been celebrated since the sixteenth century when slaves were given a day off to celebrate with their families. It is one of the islands oldest traditions similar to that of Carnival or Mardi Gras.

Annual Chocolate Lovers Showcase: January 31 - February 28, 2020

Held at the Palms in Turks and Caicos, this event brings in creative culinary artists to create delicious savory and sweet treats.

Valentines Day Cup: February 15, 2020

Great for family and kids, the annual event features a regatta with model Caicos Sloop sailboats. The event takes place on the island of Middle Caicos on the Saturday nearest Valentine’s Day. A fun beach day with local food and music at the beautiful Bambara Beach which offers calm and shallow water, white sand, and the picturesque Pelican Cay.

The model sailboat race day on Bambarra Beach in Middle Caicos, Turks & Caicos Islands is ready for it's annual event this coming year with a great line up of boats, food and music! So make plans to come and enjoy this wonderful cultural festival.

Wine Cellar Fishing and Golf Tournament: March 5 -8, 2020

This annual event hosted by the Wine Cellar, a local alcohol importer, is an island favorite that offers a two day deep sea fishing competition, and one day golf challenge, with prices totaling nearly $100,000. Golfing takes place at the Provo Golf Club in Grace Bay, and sees four person teams compete for the title. The event raises money for local youth centers and sporting organizations. All proceeds go to charity.

Annual Kite Flying Competition: Dates TBA

Every Monday following Easter Sunday, the skies of Providenciales are decorated with kites of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Easter egg hunts and family-friendly games are also a part of the event, which takes place both on Governor's Beach and Horse Stable Beach.

South Caicos Regatta: Dates TBA

Each year, South Caicos hosts an extravagant party and boat race that commemorates Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 1966 visit to South Caicos. Greeted on her Royal Yacht Britannia by a flotilla of small boats and sloops, the Queen's visit (pictured left) was marked by festivities and a donkey race. The annual celebration officially started the following year to commemorate the anniversary of the Queen's visit. The South Caicos Regatta began as a sailing race for residents of Turks & Caicos Islands with traditional Caicos sloops, which are small handmade boats, built on the islands. Today, the race has grown to include motorized conch boats and is a four-day celebration involving beauty pageants, kite-flying competitions and plenty of live music. More than fifty years after Her Majesty graced the abundant shores of South Caicos with her royal presence, the island and festival continue to flourish.

Race for the Conch: June 27, 2020

The sixth year of the Eco-SeaSwim Race for the Conch will be held at Grace Bay. Jump into the beautiful clear-blue water. Both new swimmers and long time competitors are welcomed to participate in what has become known as “One of the World's Most Gorgeous Swim Races.” Both a 2.4 Mile and 1 Mile open water race are available and those wishing to challenge themselves may be able to compete in both.

Caribbean Food and Wine Festival: Noveber 5-8, 2020

A 3 day culinary event with gourmet dinners hosted at various restaurants and resorst on the island. Tickets available for gourmet dinners, tastings and a food fair.

Conch Festival, Providenciales November: Dates TBD

Every November, the island of Providenciales hosts the Turks and Caicos Conch Festival - a celebration of the islands' national symbol and No. 1 export, a marine snail that for years has played an integral role in local cuisine. TCI celebrats its annual Conch Festival along with local restaurants who serve up their best conch dishes in every form imaginable in Blue Hills, one of the original settlements on Provo. Traditional conch dishes are always a must: conch salad, fritters and stew. But conch is a versatile food, and that much was obvious at precious events.

Turks & Caicos Unity Festival: Dates TBD

This festival tagged the "#TCIUNITYFESTIVAL" aims to showcase the beautiful nature of Turks and Caicos cultural heritage and traditions which abound in the various islands across the archipelago. This festival is set to take place on the tranquil isle of Providenciales at Grace Bay and the Downtown Ball Park.

Christmas in Turks and Caicos: December 25, 2020

Recognized as a religious and national holiday, Christmas is Turks and Caicos is a time for family and friends. Many people like to go to the beach or spend the day at the pool.

Maskanoo: December 26, 2020

Held the day after Christmas, Maskanoo is a celebration of the Island's rich history and unique culture. This is a celebration of Turks and Caicos' West African and Caribbean heritage that developed from 19th Century slaves celebrating Christmas by mocking the wealthy's costume balls. The event is held near Grace Bay where there are fireworks, vendors, music, and food.

New Years Eve and Junkanoo: December 31, 2020

At midnight on January 1 of each year, islanders take to the streets in bejeweled masks and handmade costumes, banging away on their instruments and dancing until dawn. Junkanoo has been celebrated in Turks and Caicos since the sixteenth century when slaves were given one day off around Christmas time to celebrate with their families. Traditional African music and dance were part of the festivities then, as they are today.
