Vacation Rentals and Villas in Sorrento, Positano, and Ravello

Visiting the Amalfi Coast is all about exploring the small villages that dot the area. Each has its own flavor, but all offer the romantic, relaxed atmosphere combined with a beautiful setting. Sorrento, which overlooks the Gulf of Naples with Mount Vesuvius looming in the background, is known for its small antique stores and hand-crafted ceramics and wood tiles. It's just a short drive from Villa Lika, a three-story, four-bedroom luxury villa with a sun-kissed terrace and arched windows that overlook the Gulf.

Positano is another charming Amalfi Coast town, noted for its colorful structures. Its craggy hillside and for being a favorite vacation spot for many stars of the stage and screen. You can vacation like one of these celebrities by renting a charming Positano villa. Villa Positanese, a five-bedroom luxury villa within walking distance of the beach and Positano shopping and restaurants, offering vaulted ceilings, a charming terrace and sweeping water views.

Ravello is built on the hillside that climbs steeply from the sea and is known for its 13th-century cathedral, its vibrant artists colony and its annual music festival. One of the best ways to enjoy the many charms of Ravello is to stay in a luxury Ravello villa like Villa Diana, a six-bedroom, six-bath villa on the outskirts of town, with a generous terrace and a private, over-sized swimming pool.

There are many luxury villas for rent on the Amalfi Coast that have romantic amenities like spacious terraces, private pools and bedrooms that overlook the sea.

Which Villas on the Amalfi Coast Have the Best Pools?

Your kids will love being able to relax and have fun in the water, while the adults sit poolside with a cool drink and a good book. Many of our luxury villa rentals, including Villa Galene, Villa Gardenia and Villa Nume feature their own large swimming pools, many of which overlook the sea.

Amalfi Coast Luxury 5-Star Hotels

The region is home to some of the world's most luxurious and romantic five-star hotels. If you want a private hideaway with dramatic views and a full spa, while still being near shopping and restaurants, then La Sireneuse in Positano is a good choice.

If you'd like to live as the Italian nobles did in the 19th century (only with modern plumbing), then the 11-room, elegant boutique hotel, Oasi Olimpia Relais, housed in a former ducal palace, is a great selection.

For waterfront elegance, Covo dei Saraceni offers that plus an award-winning dining room. Palazzo Alvino in Ravello rounds out our collection of Amalfi Coast luxury hotels and evokes the beauty and elegance of 19th century Italy with period antiques, beautiful gardens and, of course, that spectacular view of the sea.

Renting Luxury Villas or 5-Star Hotels on the Amalfi Coast - Which One Is Right for You?

With such an abundance of beautiful properties along the Amalfi Coast, how do you choose the one that's best for you and your family? The good news is that there is no bad choice. However, some types of accommodations are better suited to specific needs and lifestyles.

A luxury Amalfi Coast house rental offers space for your group to spread out and each have his or her own space. Villas also offer a little more privacy and are ideal for cozy honeymoons or romantic getaways. Luxury Positano villas and others around the region also have full kitchens, giving you the option to prepare some of your meals and not have to interrupt your day's activities to go to town for a meal.

If your idea of a perfect vacation is having a wide array of activities, restaurants and amenities just steps away from your bedroom, then a five-star Amalfi Coast hotel might be a better choice. Whatever type of accommodations you prefer, WIMCO Villas has a property that's just right for you. In addition, our complimentary concierge team can take care of all of the details that make a vacation truly memorable, things like in-villa spa services, private chefs and having your rental stocked with all of your favorite foods and beverages.

Where is Amalfi Coast and Why Visit?

The Amalfi Coast is a 30-mile stretch of coastline, located on the western coast of Italy, south of Naples. The area is noted for its rustic beauty and dramatic vistas as well as its picturesque villages, such as Sorrento, Positano and Ravello, each with its own personality.

The small, cove beaches of the Amalfi region are also a draw, with views of the sparkling Gulf of Naples offset by the rocky hillsides that climb sharply from the coast.

What Is the Best Time to Visit the Amalfi Coast?

The weather is best along the Amalfi Coast between April and October, with average temperatures ranging between the high 60s to the low 80s. July and August are the warmest months, but along the most crowded, with tourists arriving from all over Europe.

The period between November and March is cooler, with average temperatures in January and February in the low 50s. However, many restaurants and attractions close during the winter months.

How to get to the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is easily accessible by air via Rome's Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport or Naples International Airport. There are non-stop flights to Rome from a number of North American cities, including Boston, New York City, Toronto, Miami and Atlanta, on Alitalia and other airlines. Travel time from Boston is approximately eight hours. Travel time from Miami is a little over 10 hours. Rome is around a two-hour drive from the Amalfi Coast.

There are no non-stop flights into Naples from North America. However, if you are visiting other parts of Europe before arriving at the Amalfi Coast, you can take a non-stop flight to Naples International Airport from many European capital cities, including Paris (Orly Airport), Geneva, Brussels, Frankfurt and Madrid.

Visitors from both the United States and Canada are required to have a valid passport with at least six months validity to enter Italy. No visa is required for a stay of less than six months.

What are the top five things to do on the Amalfi Coast?

Discover the town of Amalfi. Amalfi is the largest city along the Amalfi Coast, noted for its historic cathedral, excellent shopping streets and multi-colored houses that rise up from cobblestone streets. Its compact size makes it a great place to spend an afternoon.

Relax on the beaches of Maiori. Located near the Town of Amalfi, the beaches at Maiori are some of the region's best. These twin, wide stretches of white sand have plenty of amenities and restaurants as well as lots of room to spread out and relax.

Take in the beauty of Positano. Positano has been a favorite of artists and writers for generations. Gore Vidal and John Steinbeck once called it home. Today, the town still has a vibrant art community as well as colorful houses and a romantic harbor.

Explore the heights of Ravello. The hill town of Ravello is one of the most charming cities along the Amalfi Coast. Make sure to see the Cathedral, the art gallery and Villa Ravello, a Roman villa at the top of the hill with spectacular views of the coastline.

Savor the delicious cuisine of the Amalfi Coast region. The delectable food found at the restaurants and shops in this part of Italy is one of the best things about visiting the Amalfi Coast. The area is known for its fresh seafood; the lemon liqueur, limoncello; and hand-wrapped chocolates.
